Fashion Friday: The Introduction

Hi there! For those of you who are new to Miche— or maybe just new to this blog—welcome! I’m Jennie Platt, the Chief Design and Production Officer at the Miche Home Office. Exactly what does that mean, you may ask? Well, that means I get to oversee all the design and production of our wonderful Miche products. Pretty sweet deal right? Can’t say I really have any complaints!

Not only did I want to introduce myself to you, but I am also thrilled to introduce to you a new feature to the Miche blog called “Fashion Friday,” which will be brought to you every Friday by me.  Now the weekend won’t be the only thing to look forward to on Friday—at least that is the goal.

I can’t tell you enough how excited I am about this opportunity to share a little bit of my world with you and all that goes into designing Miche handbags and accessories.

Style Watch: June 2011

For most of us, June kicks off the summer season— school is out, vacations are planned, and getting outdoors is a must. Summer is a fantastic season because it really is HOT; in fact, it should sizzle just a little bit, so why shouldn’t your handbag?

When I think of summer I think of living, adventure, fun, a time to travel, a time do things you have never done before, and your handbag is the perfect companion to take along the way.

The inspiration for this collection comes from all those things we love about summer—those beautiful beach moments, the rich colors of the sea; we love those rich jewel tones that give us that sizzle we look for. You’re going to seeing a lot of that this season.  There is also a laid-back quality to summer that is ultra-appealing and a bit sexy— you will see these qualities reflected in soft neutrals as well as classic and tailored designs, but with just  a touch of bold and edgy. This season there truly is something for everyone.

Whether you take your Classic size bag, Big Bag, or both with you on your summer vacation, your Miche is really going to have the versatility to go anywhere you want it to go.

With our June releases we really wanted to convey the “whole” of summer living. From the beautiful glow of the morning to incredibly warm dusky evenings, this collection fits in perfectly with the whole essence of summer.
I hope you enjoy the June shells as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Miche’s Guide to Packing Light

Summer’s almost here and many of you probably have exciting vacations planned. Whether you’re headed to Honolulu or Helsinki, one of the hardest parts of traveling is packing your suitcase!

One of the best ways to pack light is to travel with Miche in mind. Super fashionista Louise Roe loves using her Miche Bag as she jet-sets across the world.

Roe recently publicized her love of the Miche brand on her MSN column “Front Roe.”
“I’m gradually learning the art of packing light (well, sort of) so I’m taking about five Miche Bag covers every time we film abroad, to save space,” she said.
To help make packing even easier, we’ve come up with a list of 5 things every woman can do to make travel prep a breeze.
  1. Lists, lists, lists
    a. Write down everything that you absolutely must bring on your vacation (medications, walking shoes, clothes to wear, Miche Bag and several Shells, etc.) Pack those items first.
    b. Then, write down all of the items that are not necessities but that you’d like to bring (high heels, little black dress, make-up, etc.) List the items in order, from most-wanted to least, and then pack accordingly.
    c. If any room is left, include that extra pair of shoes!
  2. Get rollin’
    Wrinkles often are an unfortunate consequence of overstuffing a suitcase with clothing, and they can be a major nuisance. Limit your use of the hotel iron by rolling your clothing instead of folding it. Try to roll at least three items together so that they make a “super roll.” Just remember—the larger the roll, the fewer the wrinkles.
  3. Have a guiding theme
    When picking outfits, choose neutral colors that you can accessorize around. Black is always a good choice, but white, beige, and brown work as well. Then, select smaller accessory items (like your Miche Bag and Shells!) to spice up your vacation wardrobe. That way you can mix and match to create new outfits everyday with fewer clothes.
  4. Keep it simple
    If you’re anything like us, you love shoes! However, shoes are one of those items that really weigh down the suitcase. Stay fashionable by picking shoes that work with multiple outfits. Instead of packing those electric blue pumps, opt for the more neutral gray ones with the ruffled accent on the toe. Trust us, you’ll be happier if you don’t have to lug around your entire closet for a week!
  5. Wear the bulky stuff
    On the day you go to the airport, wear the heaviest items that you need to take with you. Those sexy heeled boots? Wear ‘em. Your favorite warm jacket? Bring it with you or slip it in your carry-on. This is a great tip if the airline you’re flying charges a fee for bags over a certain weight limit.

Since the launch of our new website at www.michebag.com we’ve received some incredible feedback
from our fans! Our purpose in offering this new site is to make it easier to find a local Miche Bag
Representative, learn more about opportunities at Miche, and to view as well as purchase our
