Behind the Name: Clover & Autumn

If you read last week’s post then you know that many of our August releases were inspired and named after many of you. As promised, here are a few more “behind the name” stories that inspired our Fearless Collection.

CLOVER

Our first story comes from Representative Meagen Dehart-Ames.  She wrote in to tell us about her niece, Clover.  “Clover was born with Spina Bifida, which has given her many other health issues such as severe scoliosis, Chiari II Malformation, and Hydrocephalus—just to name a few.  When Clover was only three months old the shunt placed in her brain failed, resulting in the paralysis on the left side of her face.  Through it all Clover hasn’t stopped smiling. She is full of life and never lets her disability get in her way.  She is an inspiration to many and brings a smile to anyone’s face that comes in contact with her. She is our ‘lucky clover.”

Our hearts melted upon seeing little Clover’s photo and we loved her nickname, so we just had to have a “lucky clover.”

AUTUMN

Our next story comes from a daughter whose mother passed away just last year. Barb Jones had this to say, “My mother, Autumn, loved her Classic Miche Shells. Her favorite was her black and white Hope Shell, which was given to her by my cousin when she was diagnosed with cancer.  The Hope Shell was her way of telling the world she was hopeful and that she had a ‘can-do’ attitude.”

Autumn was born in October and loved all things fall and the color green, so when it came to selecting and naming our fall collection there was no doubt that our beautiful teal-green Classic would be named Autumn.

Thank you so much to Clover and Autumn for living such inspired lives and thank you to their families for sharing their stories with us and being a source of inspiration for our fall Fearless Collection!

  1. I think these collections are beautifully represented! Having a special needs son is not easy & the care can be intense. He suffers from Bipolar disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Heart problems & undiagnosed Genetic & Endocrine problems. His mind is at a 12-13 yr old when he is 17. He doesn’t comprehend that we cannot allow him to drive, hold a job & such due to his behavior & mentality. The anger outbursts, defiance & other behaviors are almost to much sometimes. I am a single mom without much support from his paternal family. When he is in a good mood, he is my lovable, enduring, compassionate, helpful young man! He will hug anyone & the smile could light up the world! Miche, you have my total dedication & respect by honoring those who fight everyday for their loved one or those who are afflicted with a life changing illness/disorder. These are some special people & we should applaud them & the caregivers who persevere when everyone else says, “Give up”! God Bless them & the company honoring them! May they all prosper w/many blessings!

  2. Our family loves the shell named “Autumn”. What a neat memory of my mom! She would have been pleased. It is so bold, but yet classy. I’ll love using it!

  3. I love reading about the stories behind the names. I would love to know the story behind “MYA”. This is my daughters name and the spelling is unique so I was surprised to see it on a bag. I also think that you should put the names on the inside of the hip bags just like you do the shells.
    Thank you

  4. Thank you for more “behind the name” stories! I really enjoy learning about them. I love how Miche picks such inspiring stories for shell names and how they also give back to the community with the Hope shells.

  5. Thank you for sharing the inspiration and thoughts behind the names and styles of new shells. It does make me feel more closely involved with a company that truly cares about the community in which it works. I am thrilled with the entire fealess line, and absolutely love the name! As I learn more about its inspiration — I am honored to be a part of this company! :)

  6. I had no idea how any of the shells were named, but am so glad to follow these posts about these amazing ladies! Thank you for the Miche spirit and compassion when developing these wonderful products.
