I recently saw an article that stated the average weight of a women’s handbag is a staggering 7–10 pounds! Now that is a lot of weight we are hauling around each and every day. So it got me thinking—what do we really carry in our purses?
Here is a list of the top 20 items that women tend to have in their bags at all times:
- Wallet
- Phone
- Keys
- Lotion
- Hairbrush
- Hair ties
- Make-up bag
- Mirror
- Usually more than one lip gloss
- Camera
- iPod
- Earphones
- Feminine Hygiene Products
- Pain Relievers
- Protein bar or other snack food
- Day planner/address book
- Nail clippers/tweezers/nail file
- Nail polish
- A book
- Ballerina flats
For some—including me—our list goes beyond these top 20 items. It’s no secret that women carry their lives in their handbags. We have a knack for being over-prepared for any circumstance. Although carrying a handbag can be hugely convenient, it doesn’t come without its frustrations. We’ve all had that moment when we are standing by our car rummaging through the bottom of our bag looking for our keys or desperately trying to find our ringing cell phone. As women we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders—and I am not only referring to our handbags. We have careers, families and homes to fret about along with the added stress of trying to locate the essentials in our bags! Here are a few tips to help you keep all your 20+ items in your bag neatly organized and reachable.
Tip #1: To help combat the stress of trying to locate your keys in your purse, try using one our great Miche Charmers—just add your keys to the ring and attach the clip to your strap. When you are ready for your keys, just unclip and go!
Tip #2 Nowadays our cell phones have become attached to us and we’d be lost without them, wouldn’t we? Selecting a purse with a phone pocket is a must! Luckily for all us Miche girls, most Miche Bags come with that feature!
Tip #3 Make sure to include a wallet in your purse. Wallets can hold a lot of clutter (like receipts) that may otherwise end up at the bottom for your bag. A wallet is a great place to keep all your cash, change, identification, checks and credit cards!
Tip #4 Adding our Purse Organizer to your bag is also a great option for keeping your items organized! It also works great for when you went to switch between your favorite Classic Miche to your favorite Demi Miche!
And, of course, don’t forget why we all love Miche Bags—you don’t have to transfer those 20+ items from purse to purse every time you want to carry a new handbag. That’s not just smart; it’s fashionable too!

What kind of organization feature could you make for the Petite…I already have and use the Demi with organizer and Prima with organizer…but when I switch to the Petite everything must come out.
I just purchased my first Miche bag, also two for Grandaughter.
I love Miche bags, but they are SO HEAVY even empty!! how about using vel themcro on the demi and
.. also the bag shells are gorgeous, but the handles are. ugly!!!..
who wants black handles on fushia blue or bright colors with shells… come on…. you can do better
This is exactly why I fell in love with the Miche Bag when I first saw it! Those 20+ items I always “need” with me. Transferring them to another purse to match my outfit — I inevitably left behind my check book, or my brush, or favorite lip stick. For me, I would add Tip #5 — Always use a coin purse, and when it gets full, dump it into a piggy bank. Last weekend, I cleaned out all of my old, pre-Miche purses, and came up with likely 7 pounds in change! No wonder my back used to hurt!

You are so right! I don’t have a Kindle yet, but I’m sure I would carry that. That’s why I carry the Miche Prima! Loving the white handles for all my summer colors.
No wonder we all have back pain…Personally it is my work bag that is too crazy heavy. I have a hard time scaling it down. Love not having to transfer all those contents…I never would without Miche. Love Miche…
